HALLELUJAH, THE BIBLE & HANDEL’S MESSIAH: Have you ever sung Handel’s Messiah in a chorus? After a few notes it will resound in your head all afternoon. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!!! Join Rev. Robert L. “Pastor Rob” Cosmas (bio), senior pastor, Ascension Lutheran Church, as he will lead you on a travel to the 18th century to explore the most renown Oratorio in all of Christendom.  That’s right, this is a bible study class taught through the lens of ‘the greatest oratorio ever composed’. Miraculously, Handel composed the music in twenty-four days. The biblical passages were assembled by Charles Jennens, librettist.  Jennens biblical texts will be our textbook.  Handel’s divinely inspired music forms the inspired commentary on the story of Jesus’ advent, passion, and resurrection. As we begin after Easter, the Season is ripe for us to explore sections II and III. (Perhaps we can take up section I, covering Jesus’ Advent, next fall.)  “Truthfully, I can’t get the chorus out of my head, Halleluiah, Halleluiah, Halleluiah! I hope to see you in class.”

Text: Libretto, by Charles Jennens, provided
